“Make a WISH” for the Union of the blind Serbia

A few months ago the “Union of the blind” Serbia has sent a “WISH” to the Embassy: a Braille printing system.

Easy to understand, the life of the blind is particularly complicated, especially bearing in mind the access to reading. Nevertheless, there are many Serbian students who, even if partially sighted, are able to graduate. Perhaps also thanks to the well-stocked library of the Union which is the richest in the Balkans with about 80,000 texts (50.000 in Braille Alphabet).

Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Serbia Alberto di Luca had a meeting with the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zoran Vujic.

During the cordial meeting, the excellent state of relations between Serbia and Sovereign Order of Malta has been mutually underlined, also indicated by the numerous humanitarian and social activities promoted by the Embassy in Belgrade.

International Day of Families

On May 15th the International Day of Families is celebrated in the World, which was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1994. This Day is an important opportunity to promote awareness of the problems and the need for resources related to this fundamental topic for all humanity.

Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto has been elected the 80th Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta. The electing body, the Council Complete of State, met in the Magistral Villa, one of the Order of Malta’s two institutional seats, in Rome.

Elected head of the Order of Malta on 29 April 2017, Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre is now elected for life as Grand Master.

Big WISH came true

A big WISH came true in Niš, thanks to collaboration between the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Government of Taipei.

Sandra, a beautiful and solar 12-years old girl, unfortunately, from her birth lives with a rare disease caused by a viral infection contracted when she was only two weeks old.

Focus on problems and prospects of “Humanitarian Diplomacy”

At the Archbishop’s residence – guests of Belgrade Archbishop, H.E. the Most Reverend Mons. Stanislav Hočevar – was held a Focus-group about Humanitarian Diplomacy, organized by the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta intended at exchanging experiences and analyzing problems and prospects of this vast project field that coincides with the millenium old mission of the Order of Malta.

Shelter, happy and satisfied

Catholic Easter will be celebrated in a few days and Orthodox Easter the week after.

“Our” children from the Shelter already knew they would receive the necessary food for everyday life under the Project “A hot meal in a cold winter” promoted by our Embassy, and some extra things to celebrate Easter.
