Masks for Saint Petka Institution

16/06/2021

Izvor, June

The pandemic has kept social distancing but in the Embassy, we have always remained in our thoughts close to the St. Petka Institution in Izvor, which hosts dozens of girls with physical and psychological problems.

As soon as measures were relaxed, we visited Ordodox Nuns who are so lovingly taking care of  92 girls hosted at the Institution. Our collaboration with this excellent example of cooperation between the State and the Orthodox Church is continuing for many years with numerous common projects (from the donation of an ambulance to the donation of industrial washing and drying machines, through medical supplies, clothing and other). We recently included – for a possible next joint project „Make a WISH“ – representatives of LDS Charities Serbia, Elder Larry Blake and Sister Cheryl Blake who wanted to join us for a visit to Izvor.

Due to the situation imposed by Covid-19, we have not been able to visit the wards where the girls reside, but we have been updated on the situation, their problems and their WISHes. However, it was an opportunity to leave a few hundreds of multiuse anti-Covid masks, certainly needed in these difficult times.
